Kerry K. Gershaneck
Professor Kerry K. Gershaneck is a visiting scholar at National Chengchi University, Taipei; a Senior Research Associate at Thammasat University Faculty of Law (CPG), Bangkok; and the Senior Fellow for Regional Security and Geopolitical Trends with the Honolulu-based Global Risk Mitigation Foundation.
His far-reaching academic, governmental, and research experience in the Asia-Pacific region over more than four decades provided him unique expertise in regional security and political warfare. Among his many endeavors, he advises U.S. Congressional investigations into Chinese Communist Party (CCP) political warfare against the U.S. and our allies and friends, and he conducts counter-political warfare education and training programs in Asia, Europe, and the United States.
In recent years, Prof. Gershaneck has served as an Asia-based Fellow (Hybrid Threats) with NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe and the Distinguished Visiting Professor at Thailand’s Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy and the Royal Thai Naval Academy.
Previously, he was a Senior Associate and Director of Governmental & Public Relations at Pacific Forum CSIS and a Fellow and Guest Lecturer at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, both in Honolulu. At universities in California and Hawaii he taught Strategic Communications, National Defense and Regional Security, International Relations, Crisis Communications, Journalism, and Leadership.
A former U.S. Marine Corps officer and senior civil servant, he was engaged in achieving U.S. security objectives for more than 30 years, from the infantry platoon level up to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). In addition to combat arms, he served in counterintelligence, intelligence, special warfare, and public affairs. He also served as the OSD Liaison Officer with the U.S. Information Agency, and in U.S. Information Service organizations in East Asia and Southwest Asia. His U.S. awards include the Department of Defense Superior Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.
He graduated with honors from the U.S. National Defense University and was awarded a Master of Science (Education) With Distinction from National University, San Diego. Professor Gershaneck has authored a wide range of books, academic papers, and articles on CCP political and cognitive warfare. His publications include the books “Political Warfare: Strategies for Combating China's Plan to 'Win Without Fighting'” and “Media Warfare: Taiwan's Battle for the Cognitive Domain.” His forthcoming book “MultiDomain Cognitive Warfare: Mind Control, NeuroStrike, and Taiwan’s Battle for ‘The Ultimate Domain’” is slated for publication in Fall 2026.
